Join Me As I Update the Adoptee Rights Map

On January 15, 2020, at 12:01am I will update the adoptee rights map to show the unrestricted status of New York. Feel free to join me and others online, both to watch the countdown and to field the many questions people typically have about the new law.

When I wrote about the enactment of S3419 a bit ago, I ended my FAQ post with the following:

If you are a nerd and want to watch the state of New York change from red to green on the map on 12:01am, January 15, 2020, I totally get that. I’m nerding out already thinking about that. Maybe we’ll have a collective toast live, right then and there. I’m seriously looking into making that happen.

Well, I’m going to do that. Interested in joining me? Here are details:

When: 11:30pm, January 14, to 12:30am January 15
Where: Online Here, starting at 11:30pm (link will work at 11:30pm )
How: Call in to (646) 307-1990 and use conference code 251-560-096 # to join the conversation.
Remember: This is 11:30pm Eastern Time.

That’s it. We’ll watch the countdown to equality together, talk about adoptee rights, and field questions if you have them. If we’re lucky, we’ll have Annette O’Connell available from the New York Adoptee Rights Coalition as well as others involved in getting this law enacted.

I am so happy my brother will finally be able to see his birth certificate and information surrounding his adoption. I know it will bring him peace.

My husband’s identity has been a complete mystery to him for almost 54 years. Tonight, all of that changes. Thank you all from the bottom or our hearts!

My identity has been a dark secret just like a black shadow above my head! I have been on and off searching since I found out thru my adopted parents at 15 1/2 years old that I was not theirs! I thank God for people and for
Governor Cuomo for having a selfless heart for others and for signing for all adoptees to
be able to get their OBC and to finally find out who they are!
    Respectfully Yours,
    Jane Dry(the adoptee!
All adoptees are having their prayers
answered! Thank you whoever was a part of
    this decision with Governor Cuomo!
    God Bless!

For anyone wondering, VitalCheck is on MDT (mountain daylight time). So if you ordered your OBC between 12 and 2 AM very early Wednesday morning, your invoice will show January 14. Peace to all
