Sign Up: National Week of Action

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired and depleted. Solid equal rights bills have died in legislative sessions, for no other reason than deep antipathy toward adopted people and their right to identity. The Adoptee Citizenship Act is still struggling to gain a foothold in the US Congress, though it’s still early in the session. And a discriminatory bill in Iowa has been enacted, with another discriminatory bill in Arizona poised for a vote in the Senate.

Take action—a full week of action. I’ve launched a National Week of Action and I encourage you—my friends, allies, and colleagues—to join me. You can get more details of the current and planned actions already, and they will be modified, added to, and updated as the week goes by.

Completed Events

Day 1: Zoom Meeting (Completed). Along with Adoptees United and other state and national leaders, I’ll be hosting a flash Zoom meeting during the week to answer questions about pending legislation and what you can do, whether that is nationally for the Adoptee Citizenship Act or more focused on in Texas, Arizona, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Sign up below to join me for the first one tonight, where you can pop in, ask questions, and then exit the meeting whenever you want to take action or to be ready to pitch in later in the week.

Days 2-5 (Completed). We took actions in Connecticut, Arizona, Massachusetts, and Texas, and continued to push for enactment of the Adoptee Citizenship Act in the US Congress. We saw an equal rights bill pass the legislature in Connecticut, a badly discriminatory bill vetoed in Arizona, and a disappointing result in Texas, where an equal rights bill did not make it out of committee. I emailed updates about the week each day and tweeted many updates on my Twitter account (and created an easy way for you to do the same).
