Current Action: Request a DO PASS Vote on SB1147

Three identical bills that would eliminate the current donut hole in Arizona law are now active. One bill—SB1147— is set for hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, February 9, 2023. Action: Write to the seven Senators on the committee and request a DO PASS vote on the bill as introduced.

Dear Chairman Kern and Members of the Committee:

I support SB1147. I am an [Arizona adoptee][Arizona voter][other details you wish to share]. The bill removes a date-based “donut hole” in current law that makes no sense. It prohibits adopted people from applying for their own birth records based on their specific dates of birth. Those born after June 20, 1968 but before September 28, 2021, have their rights eliminated under current law. Let’s treat all adopted people equally to all other people. I ask you to vote DO PASS on SB1147 when it is before the committee.
